So, the cleaning products in Israel pretty much suck.
Well, that’s not fair. Maybe it’s just that I’m used the American ones. But for sure, the floor cleaning tools in America are 4000 times superior to what we have here in Israel.
In Israel it’s all about this giant squeegee thing.
You can wedge a dry cloth into it and sort of use it as like a magnetic broom thing, or you can wedge a wet cloth into it and it becomes a mop. I also use mine to squeegee water back into my shower when I’m finished, b/c I don’t have a glass door or porcelain tub. All’s I have is a shower curtain, but my shower is essentially just a cordoned off part of my bathroom floor.
Anyway, maybe it’s that I got mine at the dollar store, but it totally sucks. As a mop, I’m sure cavemen had better tools. So, I’m glad I remembered to ask my mom to buy some American floor cleaning products and throw them in the shipment with my art and chair that just came over.
Yay !!! Swiffer Wet Jet !!!
I know, you’re stunned by my cracked-out-clean-freak-dorkage, but what can I say – the Swiffer Wet Jet is just such a totally easy and effective floor cleaning invention. It’s truly a gift from God. Just what this clean freak boy needs.
So, my mom included the Wet Jet and all the accoutrements – wet cloths, dry cloths (I already had the Swiffer here), cleaning solution – plus some shower cleaning products for good measure.
OCD Heaven.

As for your American OCD, let me just say that when I was deployed to Iraq with the “America-fuck-yeah” Army, half of us had Swiffer Jets shipped to our base outside of Baghdad.
So, yeah, you’re totally not alone.

Comment by skatp August 9, 2009 @ 1:19 pmAgreed– Israeli cleaning products need help. I am definitely bringing a Swiffer with me– I don’t know if I’ll bring a WetJet or a regular, but for sure one. The downside is the liquid is heavy– although I could just buy wet cloths, let them dry out, and add water when I need them, I suppose.
Oh, and the no vacuum cleaners thing really bothers me too. I don’t get it.
